Doulton Figurine - Lawrence of Arabia - Limited Edition
In this virtuoso Royal Doulton figurine, Lawrence of
Arabia is depicted by Senior
Sculptor Alan Maslankowski as the man of action, leading
a guerrilla band into battle from the front. |
Gloriously
hand painted and decorated, he's dressed in his famous
Arab robes, riding a camel.
Both man and animal are
stylishly realised: their attitudes captured with a
wealth of detail to admire, including the ornate,
tasselled saddle.
To research this piece Senior Sculptor Alan Maslankowski
began by watching the David Lean film which gave him a
great sense of ambience and feeling or the
sculpture.
He
also browsed the internet and was inspired by paintings
and drawings of Lawrence, especially those by Augustus
John.
Perhaps the most magical time in the creation of a Royal
Dolton figurine is the time when colours are added,
giving them vital vibrancy.

Lawrence of Arabia Royal Doulton Figurine required
some 30 hours of detailed work. Painter Bryan Ashmore
commented, "Every sculpture is fascinating,
especially the Prestige pieces.
I discover new
techniques and methods for each one. Lawrence of Arabia
was such a colourful character it required a flamboyant
approach
It's made available in a limited edition of just 50
immensely collectable figurines by Royal Doulton.

Inspired by the World Cup, this figurine
shows a Bunnykins footballer holding the 2006 Bunnykins
Mascot. Whilst stood in the line-up at the start of the
march, this bunny is holding the 2006 mascot as he gets

He's a commanding figure to behold, and is clad in the
familiar black hat and blue coat. Ten years after the
Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, he was finally defeated at
